Explore nursing’s principles of Evidence Based Medicine using CINAHL and other nursing specific resources. We’ll make sure you know how to get started with the library website. You’ll be exposed to PICOTT to help you learn how to structure a well-formed clinical question which leads to a useful productive search strategy.  You’ll be introduced to other important evidence based medicine concepts. Creating searches for different common nursing questions and how to get the full-text of your needed articles are just some of the skills you may grow during this session.  If you are considering leveling or working on your UEXCEL project in your current position, this class is a great place to start.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify PICOTT components from a clinical scenario
  2. Recognize best study design for a given research question
  3. Translate information from PICOTT into a CINAHL search
  4. Recognize appropriate research functions within CINAHL for your question
  5. Use Article Linker and Interlibrary Loan to access full-text.
